Women, Key To Success In Governance —Okpobor

  • Presents Christmas Gifts To Isoko Women

THE Executive Director, Finance and Administration on the DESOPADEC Board, Chief Kome Okpobor has or­ganized a special event to celebrate the contributions of women in politics and society in general. The event was for Isoko women in the form of an empowerment. It took place at the Isoko Development Union (IDU) secretariat, Oleh and witnessed the distribution of 500 wrappers and cash donation to women in Isoko communities. Speaking at the event, Okpobor said, ‘’women are the backbone of any successful political movement and their unwavering commitment is unmatched,

He pointed out the inclusive nature of the Peoples Demo­cratic Party (PDP), stating that the party stands for everyone — women, men, and youths.

I initially didn’t realize how much women value wrappers until now. This token is my way of appreciating our women. The truth is, NO WOMEN, NO POLITICS.” Chief Okpobor said.

While calling for unity within the PDP, he urged members who may have left the party to return and join hands in building a stronger future for the Isoko people.

“This administration is committed to listening to the cries of our people and delivering results, not during elections but throughout our tenure. Continue to stand with the PDP and even more will come. Let’s reach out to those who left and bring them back into the fold,” he added.

He re-affirmed his respect for women, saying, “I appreci­ate women because their word is their bond. When they commit to a cause, they see it through.” The recipients of the wrapper and financial support who could not hide their excitement, pledged their continued support for the PDP and its vision for a better Isoko. The event was graced by several dignitaries including the Isoko North/South PDP Women Leaders, Chief Fome Ethe and Mrs. Endurance Ibru; Immediate past Isoko North LGA Vice Chairman, Chief Frank Ozue among others.

… Donates Bags Of Rice To Iyede Community

MEANWHILE, the Executive Director, Finance and Administration on the DESOPADEC Board, Chief Kome Okpobor has presented over 170 bags of rice to Iyede community to enable them celebrate the festive season.

Presenting the items to the leaders of the 17 communities in Iyede ward 1and 2, Chief Okpobor, charged the leaders to distribute the items fairly to the people. “Let this be shared properly. Don’t do this with sentiments. Do it properly, and let everyone be touched, especially the vulnerable” Chief Kome instructed.

The community leaders assured him that they had devised effective sharing templates to ensure the rice reaches every household in their communities.

Speaking on behalf of the community leaders Chief Frank Ozue, immediate past Vice Chairman Isoko North Local Gov­ernment Area, commended the Chief Okpobo’s kind gesture, saying it would go a long way toward bringing smiles to the faces of beneficiaries during this festive season.

Barr. Chief Vote Umukoro, Secretary Isoko North Local Government Council assured that the coordinators would be fair in distributing the items, ensuring they reached the intended beneficiaries as directed.
