Uphold Servant-Lead Traits, Oborevwori Tells Politicians

BY ANDREW IKEHI

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and the Speaker of the State Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor were among the dignitaries that graced the 50th birthday ceremony of the majority leader of the State Assembly, Hon Emeka Nwaobi.

The Thanksgiving mass held yesterday at St. Paul’s Catholic Cathedral Church, Issele-Uku was also attended by Speakers of three State Houses of Assembly; Anambra, Bayelsa and Edo.

Speaking at the event, the State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, while eulogizing the sterling qualities of Hon Nwaobi at 50, stressed the need for political leaders in the State to uphold the servant-leader traits.

That way, the Governor said, any leader would be able to establish an enduring legacy as well as impact humanity positively.

Governor Oborevwori, while thanking God for sustaining the life of Hon. Nwaobi, member representing Aniocha North State Constituency in the State House of Assembly, enjoined the celebrant to use the remaining phase of his life for the service of God and humanity.

He enjoined him to be wary of fake friends, noting that experience over the years has shown that most people who pretend to be friends are wolves in sheep’s clothing.

“I am happy to join you here today as you mark your Golden jubilee. Attaining 50 years is indeed a great achievement as it gives an individual the opportunity to reflect on his achievement.

“Also, it is an avenue for every individual to get closer to God and be prepared to serve humanity better.

“As you begin the second phase of your life, let me remind you of the need to choose your friends well. This is so because life is full of fake people. So, you should be wary of who you have as your friend “Governor Oborevwori advised

Speaking further, the Governor used the forum to reaffirm the State government’s position in ensuring zero tolerance to shoddy execution of projects in the State.

Earlier in his homily, a Catholic Priest, Rev. Fr. Mario Dibia advised political officeholders to avoid the mistake of Julius Caesar in the discharge of their assignment.

Stressing on the need for them to get closer to God, the cleric harped on the need for them to reflect on the past, present and future, saying, “It is dangerous to approach the dark world with darkness”.

On his part, the celebrant, Hon. Nwaobi, while appreciating the State Governor, Rt Hon Oborevwori, members of the State House of Assembly, said that his journey so far has been by the Grace of God.
