Human Trafficking: Task Force Retrieves Three Babies In Asaba Airport

  • Suspects Enroute To Abuja, Now In Police Custody

BY ONORIODE ETATSEMI

THE Delta State Task Force on Human Trafficking, in its efforts to put a stop to the menace, has recovered three babies less than five months old, who were to be trafficked to Abuja through the Asaba International Airport.

Security agencies, who acted swiftly on a tip-off accosted the three suspected women at the Airport waiting for their flight with the children between the ages of four and five months old.

The women later admitted that the babies were handed over to them by a contact in Onitsha, Anambra State and that they were to hand them over to another contact in Abuja upon arrival.

The suspects were promptly arrested and are currently under investigation by men of the Nigeria Police Force.

Recall that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori had earlier signed the Delta State Human Trafficking (Prohibition) law in December 2024 to combat human trafficking in the State.
