…Receives ECCIMA Delegation

THE Executive Director of Project (EDP), of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Chief Dr Ebenezer Okorodudu, says DESOPADEC is open to new ideas and proposals that can enrich her functionality and bring sustainable development to the oil- bearing communities.
He stated this yesterday, while hosting a delegation from the Ethiope Chambers of Commerce Industry Mines and Agriculture (ECCIMA), led by Rev Lucky Otegheri at the Commission’s Head Office in Warri.
Chief Okorodudu said that during his tenure as the Commissioner for Commerce, he was a significant partner and stakeholder in the Body. “I assisted in bridging the gap between the government and private sector when there was none at all.
“Some of my achievements includes; establishing The Bank of Industry in Delta State, development of Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) and Cooperatives in Delta State. I have also organised trade fairs in Delta, across the country and internationally.
“Most of your requests are not new, these are part of the programs we have outlined here in the Commission- power generation, cottage industries farms, integrated transportation, and educational programs. These are initiatives will have a direct impact on our communities.
He enjoined the delegates to put their request in writing to the Commission’s Managing Director.
Speaking earlier, the president of Ethiope Chambers of Commerce Industry Mines and Agriculture (ECCIMA) Rev. Lucky Otegheri congratulated the Executive Director of Project on his well-deserved appointment, he described him as a visionary leader who is kind selfless and humble.
Rev. Otegheri pointed out that Chambers of commerce is powered by resource persons that can change the narratives of any society. Ethiope Chamber is a rural chamber that consist of Okpe, Udu, Ughelli South, Uvwie Ethiope East and West, saying “DESOPADEC has always been a major sponsor of DESIMA Trade fair at Osubi.
He appealed to the EDP to assist and collaborate with ECCIMA Annual Agric Fair in Isiokolo which is scheduled for March 12-13, where farmers will be selling their indigenous raw products.
Also speaking the Deputy President of ECCIMA Hon. Okiemute Dukuye said one of the major achievements of the maiden edition of ECCIMA trade fairs is bringing together producers and processors.
According to her, the goal of this year’s event is to prevent waste by bringing together producers, processors, and consumers. Farmers will be able enhance production, maximize profits, and cut waste.
Additionally, she called on the DESOPADEC to collaborate with ECCIMA by providing facilities that will create jobs and reduce youth unrest in our communities.
