ACOMIN Chairman Tasks CBOs On Quality Reports

BY MAGNUS EMUJI

COMMUNITY-Based Organizations implementing the activities of Civil Society Organization on Malaria Control, Immunization and Nutrition (ACOMIN) in healthcare facilities in Delta State, have been urged to submit quality reports to stand the test of time.

The State Chairman of ACOMIN, Pastor Greg Sifo, made the call in Asaba during their first monthly coordination meeting with their partners and CBOs.

Sifo told the CBOs to look inwards for funds in the light of the current cash crunch and economic downturn.

He reminded the CBOs that the level of their engagement in the community as well as the community’s ownership of the facilities and their commitment in actualising the Community Accountability Team (CAT) mechanism in the facilities and communities, would determine their success stories.

Earlier, the State Programme Officer of ACOMIN, Sir Austen Uwede, advised the CBOs to always identify stakeholders and team leaders in the community during their advocacy visits, emphasizing that issues identified in such visits must take centre stage in their reports.

While decrying nonchalant attitudes of some CBOs in the area of late submission of reports and lack of punctuality to meetings, Sir Uwede admonished them to ensure proper photographic documentation of each activity, such that the photographs would represent the activities, by properly tagging them.

In their separate remarks, the State Malaria Programme Manager, Ministry of Health, Dr. Julie Aniah, the Director of Partnership and Policy Control in the State Action for the Control of HIV/AIDS, Mrs. Grace Sifo, and the representative of the Society for Family Health, Mrs. Mercy Momoh, implored the CBOs to embrace consistency in their reports and do the right thing at all times as far as their activities in their various communities were concerned.
