Delta NYCN Convenes Extra Elective Congress Feb. 12

BY RITA OYIBOKA

THE National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Delta State Chapter, is set to convene a high-level Extra Elective Congress to review and finalise decisions affecting youth development in the state.

The congress, which will be held on February 12, 2025, in Asaba, will bring together local government coordinators, their secretaries, and affiliate bodies to discuss unresolved matters from the council’s last management meeting and adopt key resolutions.

The meeting follows a management session held earlier this year, where key youth development policies were discussed. The upcoming congress will determine whether those decisions stand as they are or require further adjustments.

According to the Acting Secretary of the council, Janerose Silver, the gathering is a crucial platform for brainstorming, decision-making, and policy adoption.

“The Extra Elective Congress is where we review past decisions, identify any grey areas, and formally adopt resolutions. This is where the key figures of the NYCN in Delta and all affiliate bodies—including the Man O’War, the Girls’ Brigade, the Boys’ Brigade, the Sheriff Guard, and the Red Cross among others will come together to drive progress,” she said.

NYCN remains at the forefront of youth empowerment and development in Delta State, and this congress is expected to shape the council’s next steps in engaging and addressing youth-related issues.
