NGOs Commend Oborevwori For Personally Monitoring Projects

BY PATRICK MGBODO

THE Coordinator of the Forum of Delta State Non- Governmental Organizations (NGOs), Deacon Okezi Odugala has commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, for his transparent approach to project monitoring and his firm stance against substandard work across the state.

In recognition of his efforts, the Forum of Delta NGOs has honoured the governor with the title of “Civil Society Governor,” acknowledging his street credibility and his commitment to ensuring that government projects meet high standards.

Gov Oborevwori, according to Odugala, not only leads the executive arm of government but also holds public oversight over his projects, making the work of both the legislature and civil society watchdogs easier.

Addressing the press in Asaba, Odugala urged all Deltans to collaborate with the governor, noting that Delta State is transforming into a credible construction hub where fake contractors and poor-quality jobs are becoming increasingly rare.

“We all have a part to play in the sustainable development of Delta State,” Odugala said. “As civil society, we are committed to independently monitoring government projects and programs. Our findings will be made public as a tool for learning, and we will also document abandoned projects from past governments, both local and national, as well as those funded by other development partners.”

Odugala further called on Deltans to protect government projects from vandalism, appealing to traditional rulers and community leaders to take ownership of the projects in their areas.

“Additionally, we urge the Governor to sign into law the state electricity regulation bill recently passed by the State House of Assembly. This legislation will help open up the energy market in Delta State, ensuring constant electricity supply, boosting economic development, creating jobs, and fostering sustainable growth across the state.”

Odugala applauded Governor Oborevwori for proving critics wrong, highlighting that the governor is citizen-friendly and committed to fulfilling his social contract through the MORE Agenda. He called on all Deltans to join in promoting peace, security, and the positive advancement of the state.
