SAPELE Local Government Area Chairman, Hon. Bright Abeke has flagged-off the 2025 immunization exercise to be held across the length and breadth of the local government.
The programme which was organized for residents of the LGA, especially nursing mothers took place at the Health Centre of the LGA with the Executive Secretary (ES) on Health, Dr Eric Jarikre as the Guest Speaker.
Hon Abeke in his brief speech disclosed that the essence of the programme was to ensure that mothers embrace immunization for their children and wards, adding that many had died due to preventable diseases because of ignorance.
He pleaded with them(mothers) to avail themselves in any of the 13 Primary Health facilities across the LGA, according to him, “mothers forgot this exercise previously while some are afraid of negative information and others don’t have the awareness then and this is the opportunity and second chance given so that children will be immunized”
Earlier, Dr Jarikre, the guest speaker in his words mentioned tuberculosis, meningitis,polio, tetanus as preventable diseases that can be prevented through vaccines such as BCG and OPV, noting that many are maim today in the society as they suffered from these mentioned diseases.
