Sporting Activities Improves Cognitive, Psychomotor Development of Students ––Omaga-Obhioise

THE Principal of Faith Academy, Ugbolu, Oshimili North Local Government Area, Delta State, Mrs Blessing Omaga-Obhioise has disclosed that engaging students in sporting activities enhances their cognitive and psychomotor learning, making them sharper and smarter.

Omaga-Obhioise disclosed this at the 13th annual inter-house sports competition held at the school’s premises, weekend.

Speaking at the event, the principal stated that “Exposing these children to sporting activities does not only make them sharper and smarter, it also improves their cognitive and psychomotor learning. It does a lot for the students.”

She further highlighted the school’s commitment to academic excellence, stating, “Faith Academy has always stood out when it comes to academic excellence. Our records thus far, both in the WAEC and JAMB examinations, have been excellent’’.

Encouraging parents to enrol their children, Mrs. Omaga-Obhioise said that she “encourage parents to bring their children here so they can enjoy what other students are enjoying. They are benefiting from academic excellence, spirituality, and also creativity, as we witnessed in the march past by the various houses. Faith Academy is a great place for learning.”

The competition featured a range of track and field events, including the march past, 1500-meter races for both male and female categories, 100 and 200-meter sprints, 400-meter races, relay events, and special races for teachers and parents.

After an intense contest, Yellow House emerged as the overall champion, accumulating the highest points across various events. Green House secured the first runner-up position, while Red House and Blue House placed third and fourth, respectively. Parents and guests at the event commended the school’s commitment to striking a balance between academic achievement and extracurricular activities, applauding the competitive spirit and sportsmanship displayed by the students.
