BY EVELYN ZORZOR

THE First Lady of Delta State and Founder, You Matter Charity Foundation, Dcns Tobore Oborevwori has expressed confidence that come 2027, her husband, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Delta State Governor, would silence all opposition and secure a second tenure.

She said this, yesterday, when she received on a courtesy visit, delegates of the Unique Ladies for Sheriff at her office in Government House, Asaba.

The wife of the governor affirmed that with the backing of the women support group, which has representatives from the 25 local government areas, only goes to show the level of backing the Governor has.

Appreciating them for standing by the Governor all through the campaign era until this very moment, she described the women as strong pillars that have been able to successfully influence decisions and outcomes in the state.

“With all of you behind us, we do not see the opposition being able to do anything in Delta State despite their numerous threats. In fact, we are not even seeing them.

“I want to encourage you to continue giving your support for the good of the entire state because our Governor has great plans for our people. Talk less and do more in preparation for the next elections.

“As the mother of the state, I encourage you all to be of one mind. Love yourselves and do not talk down on your fellow women.

“As I have often strongly advocated through my pet project, everyone is important and so should be accorded respect in every sense.

“Strive to live up to your name, as Unique Ladies by upholding values worthy of emulation”, she admonished.

Responding to the request of the group to be their patroness, she heartily agreed, promising to send more of her women to join them for effective mobilization.

The National Coordinator of the group and leader of the delegation, Dame Nkem Okwuofu spoke on their mission, describing the group as a women political pressure group established to give support and solidly stand behind the Governor’s More Agenda and the You Matter Charity Foundation.

“It is our desire to support in moving this state forward on all fronts and it is an avenue to ensure that our women remain loyal to the government of the day and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP)”.

According to her, the group, formerly known as Yellow Women during the campaign period, was re-inaugurated late last year and christened the Unique Ladies for Sheriff.

She said the group had established a working state executive with 25 coordinators across the local government areas, affirming that this would enable them reach more grounds in terms of mobilization.

Dame Okwuofu emphasized that the group was open to everyone other woman, who believes in the government of the day, adding that as a form of criteria for membership, one must be in support of the ideologies of the state governor.

The group of over 40 women unanimously passed a vote of confidence on the governor for his numerous achievements in delivering the dividends of democracy to Deltans.

Other members of the delegation include the Chairman, Civil Service Commission, Chief Roseline Amioku, Commissioner for Women Affairs, Community and Social Development, Princess Pat Ajudua, Special Assistant to the Governor on Women Mobilization, Dcns Eunice Anirah, amongst several others.
