THE Chairman, Ogwashi-Uku Political and Elders Forum, Chief A.C. Okocha, has commended the Delta State Executive Council for maintaining that Olodu “remains an integral part of Ogwashi-Uku kingdom and has not been granted autonomous status.”
In a statement he personally signed, Okocha commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, for “his wisdom in confirming that Olodu is not an autonomous community as erroneously announced earlier. “
The Chairman and Chief Executive, AC Okocha Group of Companies, said that “the Governor saved a lot and prevented what would have amounted to a communal crisis.”
“The state government has debunked such reports, emphasizing that the claims are erroneous. The entire Ogwashi Uku kingdom of which Olodu and other satellite communities in Aniocha South Local Government Area are part and parcel of, remain under the control of His Royal Majesty, Aninshi II, the Obi of Ogwashi Uku kingdom”, Okocha said, noting that Olodu has needlessly been the subject of a long-standing controversy.
“Olodu community has no traditional ruler, but the over lordship of the Obi of Ogwashi Uku kingdom , whose reign is sacrosanct all over the kingdom.”
Okocha commended “the wisdom of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in adhering to true virtues of the traditional stool”, describing the Governor as “a man laden with wisdom in all spheres.”
“With this firm stance, it is expected that any further attempts to undermine the unity of Ogwashi-Uku will be met with appropriate sanctions”, he said
Okocha said “Ogwashi-Uku community welcomes the state government’s clarification. Ogwashi-Uku remains indivisible and we reject any attempts to partition or carve out sections from the kingdom.”
He reiterated that Governor Oborevwori swiftly addressed the issue and prevented the spread of false information. He commended His Royal Majesty, Obi Dr. Ifechukwude Aninshi Okonjo II, for bringing the matter to the Governor’s attention and ensuring that the unity of Ogwashi-Uku kingdom remains intact.
The PDP chieftain advised against fomenting trouble and sowing the seed of discord in Ogwashi Uku, especially as it affects Olodu, while calling on all indigenes to unite to move Ogwashi-Uku forward.
