Edo Police Arrest Two In Kidnapping Operation

The Edo State Police Command has apprehended two individuals, Kamsiru Abubakar, 20, and Akhor Daraman, 28, in connection with alleged kidnapping activities within the state.

This announcement was made, today, in a statement by the Command’s Spokesman, Moses Yamu, which was disseminated to journalists.

According to the statement, police received credible intelligence on February 5, 2025, at approximately 09:45 hours, regarding the presence of suspected kidnappers in Ugonoba Village, located in the Uhunmwode Local Government Area of Edo South.

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO), leading operatives from Operation Rescue, promptly responded to the report. Upon sighting the police, the suspects attempted to flee but were subsequently apprehended.

During initial investigations, several victims identified Abubakar and Daraman as members of the gang responsible for their abduction last year.

Yamu confirmed that investigations are ongoing, with efforts to apprehend additional members of the kidnapping syndicate.

He also said that the Commissioner of Police, Betty Otimenyin, has reassured the public of enhanced safety measures and expressed gratitude for the cooperation received from the community while calling for further assistance in providing useful information to help apprehend criminals.

Additionally, the Command’s Spokesman emphasised that the security strategies implemented by the Commissioner are producing positive outcomes, as evidenced by the recent arrests of suspected kidnappers.
