The Hon. Festus Ashima-led administration in Warri North has proposed a total budget of Thirty-Three Billion,Eight Hundred and Eighty Million,Two Hundred and Forty-Two Thousand,Nine Hundred and Ninety-Two Naira,Twenty-Eight Kobo (N33,880,242,992.28k)for its services in 2025 fiscal year.
The Warri North Council Chairman made this known on Tuesday, while presenting the Council’s budget for the year before the Legislative House at the Council’s Secretariat in Koko .
According to him, the budget captioned :Budget of renewal and growth, is meant to address the pressing needs of the people of the area, drive economic growth, and consolidate on the gains his government had made so far since inception.
He added that the budget would also help to complement the M.O.R.E Agenda of His Excellency, the Executive Governor, RT Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.
The Council Chairman revealed that the focus of the 2025 budget included, more development in Infrastructure, education, environment, healthcare, economic empowerment amongst other vital areas that would greatly impact the lives of the people .
In his words,” The total Budget estimate for the year 2025 stands at Thirty -Thee Billion,Eight Hundred and Eighty Million,Two Hundred and Forty-Two Thousand,Nine Hundred and Ninety-Two Naira,Twenty Eight Kobo.(N33,880,242,992,28k).”
The budget, he said, is made up of a total Recurrent Expenditure estimates of Six billion, nine hundred and twenty-seven million, five hundred and forty-two thousand, nine hundred and ninety-two Naira, twenty-eight Kobo representing 20.45 % of the total estimates.
The other component of the budget, the Chairman said was the capital expenditure estimates, which he put at twenty six billion, nine hundred and fifty-two million, seven hundred thousand naira ,((N26,952,700,000.00), representing 79.55% of the total budget estimates.
On projected revenue for the year, Hon. Ashima said, the council projected the sum of thirty-three billion, eight hundred and nine million, five hundred and fifty-two thousand, nine hundred and thirty-four Naira, thirty-three Kobo,(N33,809,552,934.33).
He added that the revenue projection of his government for the year was based on a thorough analysis of their revenue streams, noting that, as usual, the 2025 budget was ex-raying 2026 and 2027 as medium term expenditure framework (IPAS Compliant).
While presenting 21 copies of the budget to members of the House, the Council Chairman urged them to expedite the passage process to enable the Council to fastract the pace of its developmental strides and deliver more democracy dividents to the people of Warri North.
Addressing the Chairman and his team, the leader of the 7th Assembly, RT Hon.Kanu Gift Duakpemi Kunu, thanked him for his exceptional performance, which he said has beaten all expectations since assumption of office in less than ten months.
He assured the Council Chairman of quick passage of the budget because, in his words: “Mr Chairman, you are a promise Keeper and a performer and infrastructural and human capital developer. For that, you’ve already earned our trust. Sir, you’re already our partner in progress. So, be rest assured, we will do the needful and speedily too.
“I wish to urge you sir, to maintain your open-door policy as it has helped to strengthen our partnership since we came on board”, the House Leader added.
Among those who accompanied the Council Chairman on the budget presentation are: the Council Secretary, Mr Ebimene Felix, the Council”s Head of Personnel Management (HPM), Mr John Ofofo, members of his Executive, the Head of Departments and other management staff of the Local Government Council.
