In a remarkable display of compassion and community spirit, the Director of Finance and Administration at the Delta State Board of Internal Revenue, Hon. Kelly Oghenekevwe, marked his birthday with a special outreach to the Rose Ilogbo Orphanage in Ughelli, Delta State.
Hon. Oghenekevwe, accompanied by friends and well-wishers, visited the orphanage where he distributed various food items and made a cash donation to support the children and the management. The atmosphere at the orphanage was filled with excitement and gratitude as the children received the gifts with smiles and applause.
Speaking during the visit, Hon. Oghenekevwe explained that his decision to celebrate with the orphans stemmed from a deep-seated belief in the importance of giving back to society. He noted that birthdays should not only be about personal celebrations but also about making a positive impact on the lives of others, especially the less privileged.
“There is no greater joy than knowing that you have touched lives in a meaningful way,” he said. “Today is not just about me; it’s about these wonderful children, and I am grateful for the opportunity to share this special day with them.”
The management of Rose Ilogbo Orphanage expressed profound appreciation for the gesture, describing it as timely and significant. They highlighted the challenges the home faces in catering for the needs of the children and emphasized how Hon. Oghenekevwe’s support would go a long way in easing some of their burdens.
Members of the community who witnessed the event also lauded Hon. Oghenekevwe’s philanthropy, urging other public officials and private individuals to emulate his example. They noted that such acts of kindness foster a sense of unity and collective responsibility in society, noting that Hon. Oghenekevwe’s birthday celebration has not only brought smiles to the faces of the children but also served as a reminder of the role individuals can play in uplifting vulnerable members of society through simple acts of love and generosity.
