The Agaga family of Agaga Erugba community of Uvwie Kingdom, Uvwie Local Government Area, has urged the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom and the management of Uvwie Local Government to stick to the terms of the agreement as stated in the 2002 Royal/Executive Alliance Agreement between the kingdom, the Council and the family.
The agreement did not only metamorphose the layout into a full-fledged community but also added that Agaga children shall hold both positions of youth president and chairman of the elders’ council.
In a press statement signed by Christopher Patrick and Ovie Sakutu, the family expressed disappointment over the way and manner Mr Sakutu Agaga was removed from office as the youth president and therefore called for his reinstatement.
According to the family, when the late Chief Alfa Agaga, Madam Grace Agaga and the late Chief Paul Agaga were alive, decisions as regards the leadership of both the youth and elders were never tempered and challenging such responsibilities now should be seen as a clear acts of victimisation and oppressive tendency on theAgaga children. ‘’Ironically, what the Agaga family are interested in is just that of the reinstatement of Sakutu Agaga and nothing else,’’ the statement stated.
They concluded by calling on the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to make all parties and stakeholders respect and honour all agreements as gazetted in “Royal/Executive Alliance of 2002 between the Uvwie Monarch, Uvwie Council and Agaga Layout, making it Agaga Erugba community and declared their support for Mr Sakutu Agaga as the youth president of the community.
