PTA Chairman Seeks Govt Intervention To Build More Latrines

BY HARRISON AKAMULE

To curb open defecation, the Chairman of the Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) in Awubu Primary School Akugbene, Bomadi Local Government Area, Delta State, Mr Penaowei Odigrima has appealed to the Delta State Government to build toilets in the school.

Mr Odigrima asserted while inspecting the only toilet facility in the school which has made pupils of the school defecate at the River Forcados.

The PTA Chairman noted that construction of a befitting toilet facility would be urgently needed to avert disaster of any kind, saying that, it is a season of rains and storm.

He pointed out that the only toilet was abandoned by the pupils due to poor condition. He therefore appealed to the ministry in charge of primary education to build modern toilets with a water system and also to complete the school’s fence.

Odigrima used the opportunity to appeal to indigenes of the community to also come to the aid of the school while urging the school management to be watchful over the pupils.

He commended the State government for being committed to their responsibilities which he believes would be extended to Awobu Primary School so that the school would continue to have an atmosphere conducive to teaching and learning.
