M.O.R.E Agenda: Assembly Service Commission Trains Staff On Making Greater Inputs

THE Delta State House of Assembly Service Commission, has organized a two-day training/workshop for parliamentary staff, with a charge by the Acting Chairman, Mr. Ebireri Ohwo to apply the knowledge gained for greater discharge of their duties in line with the MORE Agenda of the Governor Sheriff Oborevwori led administration.

The training, which took place between June 28 and 29 at Springhill Hotel, DBS road, Asaba, under the auspices of Kingsclass Consulting Services, was themed “Effective Management and the Role of Parliamentary Staff in Achieving the MORE Agenda of the Present Administration.”

Declaring the training open, Acting Chairman of the Delta State House of Assembly Service Commission, Mr. Ebireri Sunday Ohwo, flanked by members of the Commission, Chief Innocent Okofu and Chief (Dr.) Mrs. Philo Oyearone as well as the Secretary of the Commission, Austin Uwasike Esq, said it is within the mandate of the Commission to ensure capacity building of staff so as to effectively support the members of the State House of Assembly in the business of law-making and other legislative activities.

He described this as imperative given the keenness of the legislature to support the executive arm in realizing the MORE Agenda for the benefit of Deltans.

Ohwo then expressed appreciation to the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly (DTHA), Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor for being favourably disposed to the exercise and also to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for a timely approval.

It was observed that a good number of the parliamentary staff, drawn from all departments of the Commission, turned out for workshop, with excitement visible on many of the faces as they looked forward to the discussion on the MORE Agenda. One of the staff informed our correspondent that his excitement was due to the fact that the MORE Agenda is now like a creed in the state.

The trainers, Kingclass Consulting Limited churned out various topics to make the workshop an enriching experience for the participants.

Mr. Charles Ojakovo of Kingclass Consulting Services threw light on some of the topics such as ‘Understanding the MORE Agenda, taking the staff on the themes and sub-themes, as well as topics on leadership and service delivery in the workplace. Ojakovo said they offered an extra topic, ‘Money Laundering’, as it will help the civil servants to be guided in the course of their duties.   While thanking the Acting Chairman and members of the Commission for the opportunity to anchor the training, Ojakovo said the right professionals were assembled to handle selected topics.
