Flooding: DSCTDA Begins 2nd Phase Of Drainage Desilting

  • Warns Roadside Traders, Residents

DELTA State Capital Territory Development Agency (DSCTDA) has resumed the second phase of the desilting to clear critical drainage and waterways to keep the environ safe from flooding.

The Director-General of the Agency, Chief Patrick Ukah, revealed this when monitoring the exercise in some parts of the state capital territory.

He said that while the Agency was doing its best to clear the drainage of trash and silt, it  became necessary to warn residents that deliberate dumping of refuse and trash bags into the drains would not be tolerated and defaulters will be prosecuted in line with the law.

Chief Ukah equally warned residents not to dump plastic wastes, that is used water bottles and sachet water bags into the drains as these plastics block the channels which cause flooding.

The Director General appealed for cooperation from the inhabitants of the capital territory as the state government is determined to tackle the isuue of flooding headlong.

He advised sellers of roasted and boiled maize to properly package and dispose their wastes appropriately as officials of the Agency has been mandated to monitor their activities and defaulters will be apprehended and prosecuted.

The Director General urged the people to kindly adhere to good hygiene by using the refuse bins and enrolling with PSP refuse collectors.

… Orientation Bureau Appeals To flood-Prone Areas’ Residents To Commence Relocation

FOLLOWING the recent promotions of some officers of the Nigeria Police Force by the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, has on behalf of the IGP, assisted by the Deputy Commissioner of Police Administration, DCP Wilfred Afolabi, decorated the promoted officers with their new ranks.

Those decorated includes; DCP Oladipo Sunday, DCP Abubakar Mohammed Bashir, DCP Lamba Dauda Bot and ACP Imade Osazee Graham.

In a release by the Police Command spokesperson, SP. Bright Edafe, the three newly promoted Deputy Commissioners of Police has until their promotions, the Area Commanders of Asaba, Warri and Area Commander Ogwashi-Uku respectively.

While ACP Graham Osazee Imade was the immediate past commander Dragon Patrol, Delta State Police Command.

CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, after decorating the officers with their new rank, admonished them to remember that the reward for a hard work is doing more work and therefore, advised them to add more efforts while discharging their duties and ensure that they do not disappoint the Inspector General of Police and the public even as he extended his congratulations to them.
