THE Delta State Government has embarked on a drainage construction project on the Refinery Road, Effurun. Workers of a construction firm were seen working on the project in a front of a popular hotel near the Refinery Road Junction by the Effurun/Sapele Road end at as the time of filing this report.
Respondents who spoke to our correspondent hailed the Delta Government State for the ongoing project as they noted that it would solve the problem of perennial flooding in the area if properly executed.
A commercial tricycle (keke) rider, Andrew Okafor lamented that the Refinery Road was bedevilled with floods during the rainy season.
He, therefore, expressed optimism that the completion of the project would put an end to the problem of flooding on Refinery Road Effurun.
A resident of the adjourning area of Aka Avenue, Alidu Mauzu complained also that most parts of Aka Avenue particularly the area inhabited by northerners were flooded with water during the rainy season.
He also expressed hope that the construction of the drainage would be a long-lasting solution to the problem of flooding in Aka Avenue if the gutters in the area were properly channelled to the drainage on the Refinery Road.
Malam Mauzu, like Mr Okafor appreciated Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for the drainage construction project on the Refinery Road as they described him as a listening governor who has the feeling of Deltans at heart.
