THE Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, HRM (Dr) Emmanuel Sideso has met with political actors in Uvwie Local Government Area ahead of the July 13, 2024 Local Government elections.
The meeting was held at the palace of the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom GRA Uvwie Local Government Area.
In his address, the monarch charged politicians in the area to improve on the peace recorded in previous elections in the local government area.
He emphasized that the meeting was held to achieve peace in the forthcoming local government elections.
The Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom expressed delight over the unity and love displayed by representatives of the political parties that were present at the meeting.
He urged them to display such unity and love before, during and after the forthcoming local government council polls. “Uvwie is one so politics should not divide us’’
The monarch stressed the need for Uvwie Local Government Area to be peaceful at all times, just as he noted that Uvwie was strategically located in Nigeria and also an economic hub.
The Uvwie monarch however said that indigenes of the area have the right to belong to any political party of their choice provided they play politics without bitterness and for the interest of the kingdom.
He then prayed that the candidate that would take Uvwie to greater heights should be the one to be elected as the next local government council chairman irrespective of the political party he belongs. “We need more government presence in the Uvwie Kingdom.
The Uvwie monarch praised the security agencies for their contributions to a peaceful election in the Local Government Area. The chairmanship candidates, chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressives Congress (APC) and Labour Party (LP), among other stakeholders, were at the meeting.
The party chairmen, who spoke on behalf of their members, appreciated the traditional ruler for his peace initiative as they promised to yield to his advice for a peaceful and credible election. They also promised to pass the message to their members.

AN Uvwie chief, Dr Jeffrey Okorokporo has been installed as the Usavwre (traditional key) in Etche R’ Ogbe (traditional administrative unit) in Uvwie by the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, HRM (Dr) Emmanuel Sideso.
The installation took place at the palace of the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.
Chief Okorokporo, before the installation, is the Chairman of the Urhumarho Community, Effurun in Uvwie Kingdom.
The Secretary of Uvwie Traditional Council, Chief (Dr) Samuel Eshenake read the citation of the new Usiavwe of Etche R‘ Ogbe while Chief Benjamin Eshenake administered the oaths of conduct and allegiance to the candidate.
The new Uvwie traditional chief, spoke to journalists shortly after the installation where he expressed appreciation to the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom and the people of Uvwie Kingdom for his elevation.
