DTHA Assures Robust Legal Backing For Oborevwori’s M.O.R.E Agenda

BY ANDREW IKEHI

As members of the Delta State House of Assembly (DTHA), yesterday, resumed plenary for the second session of the 8th Assembly, the lawmakers have expressed their commitment to ensuring that the present administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori get the required legal backing to thrive and do ‘MORE’ for Deltans

The Speaker of the State Assembly, Rt. Hon Emomotimi Guwor, who made the legislature’s position known in his welcome address at the resumed plenary, noted that the legal backing, as promised by the State lawmakers, was needed to enhance the policies and programmes of the current administration in order for it to do more and consolidate on its achievements so far.

The Speaker, while commending the lawmakers for their legislative diligence and commitment to duties during the first session of the State Assembly, urged them to brace up for enhanced legislative assignment in the second session.

On forthcoming local government election, the Speaker enjoined Deltans to come out enmasse and participate in the election scheduled for Saturday, July 13, this year.

He said: “Dear colleagues, I believe we have rested, refreshed and reinvigorated to continue our legislative business.

“As we progress through the Second Session, we should bring to bear on the work the lessons learnt in the First Session.

“As representatives of the people in parliament, the people’s hope for good governance and dividend of democracy rest squarely on our shoulders. Collectively, we must serve with all passion, honour, integrity, cooperation and unity of purpose, in synergy with the Executive for the good of Deltans.

“Thankfully, the 8th Assembly Legislative Agenda is in tandem with the MORE AGENDA of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori, the Governor of the State. We will, therefore, continue to give legal backing to the policies and programmes of the Oborevwori’s administration in order to do more for our people.

“As we commence this new Session, I count as always on your support, commitment and dedication toward our legislative duties. As you can see on the Order Paper and Business of the Week, there are very important Bills pending before the House for consideration and passage. I therefore implore all of us to brace up and ensure the passage of most of the Bills before the end of July”, Guwor said.
