A student of Delta State University, Miss Hilda Rukevwe John, who was shot by policemen has been admitted at the Delta State University Teaching Hospital (DELSUTH), Oghara.
She was reportedly shot by policemen attached to a VIP in front of Oria-Abraka Secondary School.
Meanwhile, a group, Initiative for Social Rights Concerns and Advancements (ISRCA), also known as ‘No Justice, No Peace Initiative’ has urged the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Surajudeen Olufemi Abaniwonda, to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and bringing the police officers responsible to book.
ISRCA’s National Coordinator, Comrade Comrade Derrick Oritsematosan Agberen specifically called for the immediate arrest of the policemen involved in the incident.
The group said, “students and members of the civil society will not hesitate but lead a protest until the police officers are arrested and brought to book. We’ll stop at nothing until we get justice.”
This is coming as the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed that the officer who shot the victim had been identified and arrested.
The victim is a final year student of the Delta State University, Abraka, Department of Physiology.
