RESIDENTS have called on the Delta State Government to interrogate the presence of persons suspected to have some form of insanity in some locations within the Asaba metropolis.
Some of the persons who spoke with our reporter pleaded with the state government to look into the their increasing number to avert any ulterior motives.
According to Mr. Okeleke Okonkwo, “it is so sad as their presence have caused a gory sight in those places. Okeleke urged the the Ministry of Women Affairs to help reduce their presence by giving medical support to those who genuinely need them, adding that some of the persons who acts as lunatic are not what they people think they are, but could be loitering the streets of Asaba with ulterior motives. He said some have no accommodation having come to Delta without planning for their relocation.
According to him, many of them are not from Asaba, but were brought in on a daily basis from outside the state.
While lamenting that they are constituting nuisance in Asaba and other places, he called the attention of the Ministry of Environment to the harm they are causing to the environment in the state.
Okeleke said that the Coker Interchange is now a den of persons with suspicious intentions, including drug users, adding that if not addressed, would lead to insecurity in the peaceful state capital.
He appealed for urgent attention to address it as the state capital should have no place for such persons.
