By Patrick Ogbogu

The Diokpa, elders and members of Isieke community in Asaba  were said to had tipped  Ogbueshi Engr. Tony Ogugua Konwea for the Asagba of Asaba throne.

The decision was said to had been reached at the end of a screening exercise conducted by a committee set up by the village to screen interested candidates with Konwea’s campaign gaining momentum and earning the trust and admiration of the people

His vision for the kingdom’s prosperity, unity, and peace has resonated with the villagers, and his commitment to the people’s welfare has made him the people’s choice.

Recall that the late royal father, Asagba of Asaba, Asagba Professor Chike Edozien, CFR, in his blessed memory passed away on February 7, 2024, at the ripe age of 100. The news of his death was confirmed by the Palace on February 13, 2024, following Asaba’s tradition of not announcing the death of their monarch until after seven days.

With the demise of the late Asagba, it becomes the turn of Ugbomanta quarters to produce the next Asagba, in line with a long-standing rotation system in Asaba, where each of the five quarters e.g., Umuezei, Ugbomanta, Umuaji, Umuagu and Umuonaje takes turns to produce the next king after the demise of the previous one. This system has been upheld for generations, ensuring balance, fairness, and representation for all quarters.

Invariably, Isieke community is poised to reclaim its rightful place on the throne, as the village prepares to produce the next monarch.

According to tradition, the throne rotates among the various communities in the kingdom, and it is now Isieke’s turn to produce the next king and AsagbaAhaba as Umudaike, the elder brother in Ugbomanta had produced the Asagba through the late Obi Ijeh. This development has sparked excitement and anticipation among the people of Isieke, who are eager to see one of their own ascend to the throne.

The community has a rich history of producing wise and courageous leaders, and expectations are high that the next king and Asagba will embody these qualities. EngrKonwea, a prominent member of the Isieke community, has emerged as a leading candidate to succeed the late Asagba. His campaign has gained momentum, with many prominent figures and groups endorsing his candidacy.

According to the Diokpa and Head of the community, Ogbueshi Israel OlisameduaUwaechia, “The people of Isieke are united in their support for OgbueshiKonwea, because he has the vision, courage, and compassion and eminently qualified to lead the kingdom into a brighter future.’

As the race for the throne heats up, the Isieke community stands firmly behind their son, ready to see him take his rightful place as the next king.

This development marks a significant milestone in the history of Asaba, as the community comes together to support a leader who embodies the values and virtues that the town holds dear.

The selection process, which was rigorous and transparent, involved various stakeholders and community leaders. Candidates were evaluated based on their leadership skills, vision, and dedication to the town’s welfare.

Tony Konwea’s impressive credentials and passion for the community’s growth and development made him the top choice.

As a respected member of the Umuonisha kindred, Isieke community, Tony Konwea has demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities, wisdom, and a deep understanding of our town’s history and culture. His commitment to the well-being of the people is unwavering, and his vision for the town’s future aligns with the aspirations of the community.

Ogbueshi Konwea’s humility is a breath of fresh air in a sea of arrogance. Unlike his competitors, he doesn’t flaunt his achievements or boast about his lineage. Instead, he listens more than he speaks, seeking to understand the needs of his people.

The community’s choice of Engr Konwea is a testament to his character and reputation. He has consistently demonstrated selflessness, compassion, and a willingness to serve, earning the respect and trust of the people.

His candidacy is a celebration of our community’s values and traditions, and we are confident that he will make an outstanding king and Asagba.

In the coming days, Ogbueshi Konwea will embark on a journey to engage with the community, share his vision, and listen to the people’s concerns. His campaign promises to be inclusive, transparent, and focused on the welfare of all citizens.

We urge the public to join us in supporting Engr Konwea on this journey. Let us come together to build a brighter future for our town, a future that is rooted in our rich heritage and guided by the principles of justice, equality, and peace.

This development is a testament to the power of community and the importance of collective decision-making.

We further commend the selection committee for their tireless efforts and commitment to transparency. As we move forward, we must continue to unite behind Tony Konwea and support him in his bid to become our next Asagba.

This development further marks a significant turning point in the race for the throne, as Konwea’s candidacy has now gained unprecedented momentum. The village’s decision to back Konwea is a testament to his leadership qualities, vision, and dedication to the welfare of the people.

His campaign promises to revitalize the kingdom’s economy, promote unity and peace, and restore the monarchy’s dignity have resonated with the villagers.

Konwea’s emergence as Isieke’s preferred candidate has given the engineer the much-needed boost to take his campaign to the next level.

As the race for the throne heats up, one thing is clear: Ogbueshi Konwea has emerged as a force to be reckoned with. His candidacy has ignited hope and excitement among the people, and his chances of succeeding Asagba are now stronger than ever.

In a brief chat, the Diokpa of Umuonisha- Isieke’s community, Ogbueshi Israel Olisamedua Uwaechia said the support for Konwea by the Isieke people is a call to action for the entire community to rally behind a leader who has the vision, courage, and compassion to lead the people into a brighter future.’
