The people of Umuokoyi Idumugbe quarter Ogbe-Obi village Onicha-Ugbo in Aniocha-North Local Government Area of Delta State have been thrown into mourning following the demise of their prominent community leader and eldest man in the area, late Diokpa Stephen Onyema Anene. He was aged 102 years.
A statement issued by his first son, Mr. Sunday Anene stated that the burial rites will begin on Saturday, August 10, 2024 with an all night social wake till dawn at his Umuokoyi Idumugbe country home, Onicha-Ugbo. The traditional burial rites including dance (Igba-ilo) round the five quarters of the community and thereafter interment at his residence will hold on August 12.
Also, the traditional funfair (Iya-ego) will be on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at 12:00 noon with a grand finale featuring a civic reception on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at the Event Centre, Onicha-Ugbo at 12:00 noon
