The Delta State Commissioner for Works (Rural and Riverine Roads), Hon. Charles Ehiedu Aniagwu, has urged Deltans to reason beyond political sentiments while seeing the local government elections as a brotherly affair.
While urging contestants to take the election as sportsmen, he pointed out that “if you don’t win today, you could win another day.”
Aniagwu made the statement in Akumazi Umuocha (Ward 7) while speaking to newsmen after voting in the area.
According to him, despite the fact that there are contestants from the Labour Party (LP) and All Progressives Congress (APC) in the area, he said that the people of Akumazi Umuocha will continue to support the PDP due to the immense contributions of the party to the development of the area, both in human and capital development.
While enumerating the numerous projects that have been executed by the party in the past 24 years of PDP administration in Delta State, he said the PDP government of Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori would continue to do more for the people in the area, adding that presently, some kilometers of roads are under construction by the state government in the area.
He advised members of the opposition party in the area to see the election as a contest between brothers and urged them to continue to live together with each other.
He stated that the election in the area was very peaceful and devoid of electoral malpractices, “despite the facts that there were some members of Labour Party who were making noise over the conduct.”
Aniagwu while thanking the party supporters in Akumazi Umuocha for their continued support for the PDP, said that the party has done its best in campaigning and canvassing votes so as to win the election.
