DTSG Begins Enerhen Flyover Project

  • As Julius Berger Moves To Site
  • Cooperate With Oborevwori, Manager Tells Deltans

BY PATRICK MGBODO

Delta State Government, under the leadership of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, is elevating the standard of good governance as Julius Berger Construction Company commences work on the Enerhen Flyover project in Warri.

The arrival of Julius Berger Nigeria Plc at the project site was marked by the presence of the Commissioner for Special Projects, Funyei Manager, who would oversee the execution of the project in line with the Governor’s directives.

Addressing journalists during the visit, Funyei Manager said that the project should have started a month ago but was delayed to allow those on the right of way to relocate and decongest the area.

‘’Ordinarily, we should have started the project about a month ago but we also needed to give the people the chance to move their things. It is a congested area but we do not want to push the people into hardship.

‘’Because of that, we gave the people a period of grace and after that, we decided to come to the site. Julius Berger has come to the site. As a government, we have given them (JB) access and they now have the site to begin work.

While appealing to Deltans to be patient with the Oborevwori administration, Funyei Manager said the flyover, once completed, would boost commerce in the area, creating more opportunities as envisioned by the governor.

Manager, who also inspected the Okorodudu/Enerhen alternative route, urged residents to cooperate with the Oborevwori administration, adding, ‘’the state government is ensuring that life is easier for Deltans through the MORE agenda’’

During the inspection, Funyei Manager tasked the contractor to deliver the project in line with specifications and projected timeframe, and also ensure the safety and convenience of residents and road users.

Remarking, the Director of Special Projects, Engr John Akuya said the bridge, upon completion, would cut across the Enerhen axis and would ease traffic in the area for residents and commuters.

On the site, some residents were commending Governor Oborevwori and singing his praises for the intervention and awarding the contract to a construction giant, Julius Berger.

Recall that Governor Oborevwori entrusted the supervision of the Enerhen-Junction-to-First-Marine Gate Flyover Project to the special projects commissioner to ensure that the contractor delivers a world-class project to Deltans.
