Political Leaders Laud Peaceful Conduct Of LG Polls

PROMINENT leaders from Ughelli North Local Government Area have commended the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission, DSIEC, for the peaceful conduct of last Saturday’s local government election.

DSIEC had last Saturday conducted chairmanship and Councillorship elections throughout the state.

Commending DSIEC, Senior Special Assistant Political to the Delta State Governor, Olorogun Hon Kpuwhara Anthony JP, said, “The Just concluded local government elections can be described by me as one of thr best in recent times.

“Despite the heavy rain, Material were distributed to various polling units in my community and I know same happened in other places without fighting or argument.

“With what I saw, there is serious improvement on the side of DSIEC, even the eloctorate high level of maturity in casting their votes under the rain without supervision and this goes to show that our people are getting things right”

Also Olorogun Fred Majemite in as thought said, with what I have seen, it will transform to 2027 where the Governor will be reelected and this time around it will be called Ughelli North Noble.

“When I saw the picture of the APC Chairmanship Candidate with that of the PDP candidate, it behoves on me that politics of now is not what we must fight to kill ourselves.”

Olorogun Dr Isaac Akpoveta described the election as one of the most peaceful election that Ughelli North people have witnessed.

He said, I witnessed the elections in Ofuoma and it was very peaceful and as a leader I have to drive round to see things for myself, what I saw was amazing, there was no altercations, no rowdiness.

“In the past elections,it has always been a war zone in some part of Ughelli but there was nothing of such in this case, and from the reports I got around thr state, the elections were peaceful and I want DSIEC and the people for their cooperation.”

The president general of Afiesere community,Amb Richard Ovwreghederohwo, gave kudo to the electoral umpire for creating enabling environment for the to vote

“The exercise was a peaceful one, I think we have never had it like this before, everybody participated, APC, SDP, Labour Party and the PDP and at the end of the day, it was very peaceful”.

Prince Elvis Oharisi said, “The process was a credible one from DSIEC, the materials arrived their Ughelli office early and were distributed to various ward and units and the electorate came out in their numbers to cast their vote peacefully. So for me, it was a peaceful process that is worth commendations.”
