DELTA State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori yesterday implored all deployed corp members to be ambassadors of the MORE Agenda which represents his blueprint for good governance in the state.

Governor Oborevwori said this at the terminal parade ceremony of the 2024 Batch “B” Stream 1, orientation course for corps members deployed to Delta State at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Issele-Uku, Aniocha North Local Government, Delta State.

Addressing corps members, Governor Oborevwori, who was represented by the Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof. Nyerhovwo Tonukari said, “ I urged you all to be part development efforts of the state government, this administration is pursuing sustainable development anchored on the MORE Agenda.

“We are committed to the sustenance of peace and security, developing the abundant human resources in the state. Through this orientation exercise, you have been armed with most of the leadership qualities: perseverance, endurance, discipline, selflessness sacrifice and love for your dear country.

“Make the best of the situations you will find yourselves in, and be cautious in all your activities. This is a tempting period for most of you as the urge to embark on adventures that are detrimental to your future or pose a danger to your lives.

“Therefore I urged you to be vanguards of rural development to brace up to the challenges of developing our rural areas accordingly, and to ensure the furtherance of objectives of the National Youth Service Corps in this state,” Oborevwori said.

Meanwhile, the Delta State Coordinator National Youth Service Corps, Mr Alao Olaosebikan welcomed all dignitaries and guests present at the terminal ceremony. In his words, “ The last 21 days have been very fulfilling and action-packed as these corps members were exposed to various activities to prepare them mentally and physically for the tasks ahead.

“The activities included skill acquisition and entrepreneur development training, military drills, lectures, citizenship and leadership training, among others. I wish to report that about 1933 corps members participated actively in all the activities of the orientation programme, and I do not doubt in my mind that they are fully prepared to serve in all the nooks and crannies of Delta State.

“In line with the posting of NYSC to the four critical areas of education, health, agriculture, and infrastructure, we have carried out the posting of these corps members to meet the yearning and aspirations of the people of the state. May, I solicit the cooperation of our esteemed corp employers in providing an enabling environment for these corps to discharge their duties optimally bearing in mind the statutory responsibility of their welfare packages, equally advising employers to shun any form of illegal dealings that negates the lofty ideas of the NYSC”,  Olaosebikan posited.
