Aniocha N’ Legislative Arm Elects Leader, Dep Leader

FOLLOWING the official inauguration of the 8th Legislative Assembly of Aniocha North Local Government Area, councillors have elected principal officers to collaborate with the Executive Chairman, Hon. Bazim Chinye in piloting the affairs of the council. The Inauguration of the 8th Legislative Assembly was sequel to the  proclamation by the Chairman, who was accompanied to the Legislative Chamber by the vice chairman, Hon. Clara Nneka Dibia.

The clerk of the Legislative Arm, Mrs. Ufuoma Ogbudo who presided over proceedings, called for nominations and election of the leader and deputy leader. Hon. Uzor Babor, Councilor representing Ward 12, Ubulubu and Ogodor, was elected as leader of the House, after he was nominated by Hon. Nkeabu Chinyere, Councillor representing Ward 4, Onicha-Uku, and seconded by Hon. Joel Chukwuka, Councillor representing Ward 11, Ukwu-Nzu.  In the same vein, Hon. Iweke Frank representing Ward 8, Issele-Uku was elected as deputy leader, upon his nomination by Hon. Okpah Anyasi, Councillor representing Ward 3 Obomkpa, seconded by Hon. Oseloke Okeleke, Councillor representing Ward 20, Issele-Uku.

The Clerk thereafter, administered the oath of office on the newly-elected leader and deputy leader.  The leader took over proceedings and swore-in  the members. This followed the reading of correspondence from the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the LGA announcing the appointment of Hon. Nkeabu Chinyere as the majority leader and others.

The inauguration of the House was witnessed by some of the party chieftains, including Chief Nkem Okwuofu, Chief Barr. Josephine Kachikwu, the PDP LGA chairman, Dr. Charles Ochei, State Commissioner for Science and Technology, Hon. Odinigwe Odigie and former clerk of the State House of Assembly, Chief Dan Okenyi. Meanwhile, Chinye appointed Hon. Kennedy Okoh as Secretary to the Local Government(SLG). He also announced one-time councillor,  Ndubuisi Osemene as Special Adviser.
