TOP government officials, professional bodies, and Civil servants in Delta State, on Thursday, celebrated the Head of Service, Mr. Reginald Bayoko mni as he marked his 58th birthday.
The occasion was graced by permanent secretaries, directors, and civil servants from all cadres, as well as representatives from professional associations, including the Asaba Chapter of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM) and the University of Benin Alumni Association (Asaba chapter), all gathered to celebrate the Head of Service on his special day.
In a glowing tribute, the Chairman of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM), Asaba chapter, Mr. Onyeisi Nkenchor, described the HoS as a “thoroughbred and seasoned bureaucrat” and the first Izon to occupy the office of the Head of Service. “The celebrant is a pride of the Service and the institute.
“Bayoko has proved himself to be a dedicated leader who has served and advanced the state civil service.
“As he prepares to take the office of Head of Service to the next level, we wish him good health, success, and long life,” he said.
In their goodwill messages, the chairman of the University of Benin Alumni Association (Asaba chapter), Mrs. Magdaline Chiemeke, lauded the impact of the Head of Service on the state and the association.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Office of the Head of Service, Mr. Patrick Ojeblenu, extolled the virtues of the HoS, saying he is a man of impeccable character and an astute administrator. He wished him well and prayed for God’s continuous guidance and preservation.
In his response, Bayoko expressed gratitude to all who came to celebrate with him, noting that it was his last birthday celebration as Head of Service. “I’m grateful to everyone who’s joined me on this momentous occasion, which marks both my 58th birthday and my final birthday celebration as Head of Service.
“As I approach 35 years of service in March, I’m reminded of the incredible journey that has brought me to this point,” he said.
Reflecting on his 16-year career trajectory in the Office of the Head of Civil Service of Delta State, from Permanent Secretary to Head of Service, Bayoko expressed gratitude to God even as he looked forward to the remaining months in service. The highlight of the occasion was the cutting of the birthday cake and the presentation of gifts from staff members, friends and well-wishers.
