THE Chairman, Oshimili North Local Government Area, Hon. Innocent Esewezie has solicited cooperation from members of the legislative arm to actualize the MORE Agenda in the area.
Esewezie gave the charge at the swearing-in of the councillors and the proclamation of the 8th Assembly of the Legislative Arm of Oshimili North Council held at the local government secretariat in Akwukwu- Igbo.
The Chairman congratulated the councillors for their resounding victories in various wards,buttressing the importance of law-making and a huge assignment which must be taken with all seriousness, as their input in every debate on any subject matter must justify their presence in the house not just for themselves but their constituency.
Addressing journalists at the premises, he said “We are aware that the expectations from our people are high and we are ready to sustain the smiles on their faces and not the other way round. This means that the legislative and the executive will be working as a team because it is only with team work that we can bring development to the people.
“I hereby declare councillors elect inaugurated. We will be working assiduously basically for the people of Oshimili North as it’s going to be MORE of everything going forward we have adapted the MORE mantra across our communities; MORE in youth empowerment, security, soft grants to1000 indigents across the local government”. However, the highpoint of the event was the oath taking and oath of alliangence presided over by the clerk of the House, Mr. Benedict Agboje.
In his acceptance speech, Leader of the House, Hon. Chris Nwangbor, Councillor representing Ward 15, and his Deputy, Augustina Odogwu representing Ward 6, promised to uphold the integrity of the 8th Assembly. The leader promised to work with optimum sincerity for the good of the people and to work in synergy with the executive for better service delivery. Witnessing the inauguration was the Vice Chairman, Hon. Uju Okolo, Member representing Oshimili North Local Government in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Frank Esenwa and other dignitaries.
