Delta Monarchs Task FG On Reconstruction Of Okuama Community

the Delta State Traditional Rulers Council has called on the Federal and the Delta State Governments to expedite the reconstruction of Okuama community, which was leveled in the aftermath of the brutal killing of 17 soldiers including three officers in March this year.

The call is contained in a four-point communique issued at the end of their meeting in Asaba, on Thursday.

The Chairman of the Council and Orodje of Okpe Kingdom, Major – General Felix Mujakpuero Rtd, Orhue 1, who presented the communiqué, said the early reconstruction of Okuama Community would alleviate the sufferings of the people and facilitate the early return of the displaced residents to their ancestral home.   “We want to specially thank the leadership of  the Ukoko  Irie Urhobo led by its Chairman and Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom who recently  visited Okuama  Internally Displaced  Person  (IDP’s) Camp at Okuama community and presented several  food items  to the embattled people. This gesture will go along way to alleviate their sufferings”, he said.

The Council commended the Ovie of Uvwie kingdom-led Ukoko Ivie Urhobo for presenting relief materials to the Okuama IDP’s camp, saying that the gesture would be a great relief to the people particularly in meeting their daily basic needs.

The monarchs tasked the newly elected local government chairmen to embark on meaningful development projects in their various l areas to justify the confidence reposed in them by the  electorate, even as they congratulated them on their electoral victory.

The Delta monarchs commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for the various developmental projects being commissioned across Delta State, particularly the Ibusa/Okpanam bypass, which, according to them, would decongest vehicular traffic around the Koka junction and reduce man hour loss in traffic gridlock along the Okpanam/Koka junction corridor.

During the Council-in-session, the Zonal Director of the EFCC in-charge of Delta, Edo and Ondo States, Mr Effa Imoh Okim solicited for the support  of the monarchs in addressing the moral decadence among youths and appealed that youths should return back to the core traditional values of hardwork, honesty, perseverance and shun the-get- rich syndrome, which has triggered high incidence of corruption, cybercrime, internet fraud and other forms of criminality in the country. The meeting was attended by traditional rulers from across the three senatorial districts, including the 1st Vice Chairman and Pere of Akugbene Mien, Pere SP Luke Kalanama V111, the 2nd Vice Chairman and Obi of Ubulu-Unor Kingdom, Agbogidi Henry Kikachukwu 1, and the immediate past Chairman of the Council and Obi of Owa, Dr Emmanuel Efeizomor 11, among others.
