… Bill Passes First Reading
THE Delta State House of Assembly (DTHA) is set to amend the State’s Child Rights Law, 2008 as bill to that effect, on Thursday, sailed through first reading on the floor of the House.
The bill being sponsored by the member representing Ika North East State Constituency, Hon. (Mrs.)Marylyn Okowa-Daramola is aimed at strengthening the legal framework for child rights protection in Delta State and other related matters.
Okowa-Daramola at Thursday’s plenary, sought the leave of the House to bring forth the bill which is being co-sponsored by 27 other members.
Second reading of the bill, according to the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor is scheduled for Tuesday, September 2, 2024.
Meanwhile, at Thursday’s plenary presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, the House took the third reading of the “Delta State Urban Regional Planning Bill, 2024 and it was subsequently passed.
The third reading and subsequent passage of the bill, The Pointer reports, was sequel to a report presented at the hallowed chamber by the Chairman, Special Committee on the bill and Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Emeka Nwaobi.
Speaking on the bill, the Speaker, Rt. Hon Emomotimi Guwor commended the lawmakers for their legislative ingenuity in the passage of the bill.
