Chinye Takes Over Aniocha North LG Council

Following the inauguration of the 25 elected local government chairmen by Governor Sherriff Oborovwori, the Chairman of Aniocha North Local Government Area, Emmanuel Chinye, has commenced work in the council.

The handover event was graced by local government functionaries, the members of staff, Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) executives and other members of the various committees that made up the Aniocha North Local Government Council.

While fielding questions from journalists, the Chinye, in response to the grand reception organized in his honour thanked the people of Aniocha North Local Government Area for voting him to victory in the just concluded local government election.

Chinye commended the Head of Personnel Management (HPM) and his team for holding forte in the council and promised to address the staff at the appropriate time, while he inspected the facilities, and office complex in the council secretariat.

He expressed dismay at the dilapidated nature of some offices within the complex and directed the Head of the Works Department to estimate the cost of rehabilitating the dilapidated part of the complex. Among other places inspected were the Legislative complex, NULGE Hall, the skill acquisition centre and other facilities.

However, the Vice Chairman, Mrs Dibia Nneka expressed hope that her principal would address every irregularity they inherited from the previous administration, adding that by God’s grace, they would fulfil their campaign promises to the people.

Earlier, the Head of Personnel Management, (HPM) Mr Bertrand Ojih said that for the three months he watched over the council, he made remarkable impacts, repositioned the machinery of Internally-Generated Revenue (IGR) using the due process to boost income to the council.

Ojih disclosed that he embarked on remedial works on failed portions of some roads within Issele-Uku and Onicha-Ugbo, the constitution of the Local Government Peace and Security Committee with regular meetings of the committee and enforcement of the anti-grazing law.
