THE General Overseer of Jesus Solution Christian Bible Deliverance Ministry AKA Solution City, in Sapele, Delta State, Bishop (Dr.) Kingsley Majemite (Obeba 1 )has called on Hon. Bright Abeke, Chairman of Sapele Local Government Area, to take measures to address the road obstruction caused by traders at Amukpe market. The Amukpe market road, has become known for traffic gridlock due to the traders’ encroachment on the road.
Bishop Majemite expressed concern over the situation, which he described as “unacceptable.” He lamented that the road block has brought untold hardship on commuters and motorists, leading to wasted time as well as fuel and resources.
The bishop also noted that the situation has negatively impacted the local economy, as businesses and residents struggle to access the market and surrounding areas.
Majemite urged Hon. Abeke to take decisive action to remedy the situation, stating that “it is the responsibility of the LGA chairman to ensure that markets are operated in an orderly and organized manner, without causing hardship to the general public.”
He also called on the traders to cooperate with the authorities, saying “we must all work together to find a solution that benefits everyone.”
Majemite also seized the opportunity to appeal to the Honourable Commissioner for Environment in Delta State, Mr. Ejiro Jamani to find a lasting solution to the flooding around Amukpe garage, which extends to the market. He emphasized that the flood in the area is causing immense suffering for residents, commuters and motorists.
The bishop’s call comes on the heels of repeated complaints from residents and motorists, who have been bearing the brunt of the congestion.
Many have expressed frustration with the situation, which was learnt has been ongoing for months. Some traders, however, have opposed moves to relocate them, citing concerns about their livelihoods.
So the situation continues to unfold, but residents and motorists appeared to be hopeful that a solution will be found soon. A source said that “with Bishop Majemite’s intervention, the pressure is now on Hon. Abeke and the LGA to take concrete steps to address the Amukpe market road obstruction and restore order to the area.
