The Delta State Government has announced the results of the 2024 Cognitive and Placement Examination for Primary Six students, conducted on May 25, 2024.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministries of Primary and Secondary Education, Mr. Augustine Oghoro, released a statement on behalf of the State Commissioner for Primary Education, Dr. Kingsley Ashibogwu. The statement revealed that out of the 118,827 learners who registered, 117,348 candidates were present and completed the examination.
The results indicated that 115,049 candidates passed, while 2,499 failed. The breakdown of performance shows that 24 per cent achieved distinction, 63 per cent received merit, and 9 per cent passed the exam. These results reflect a wide range of academic achievements among the students.
Candidates can check their results by visiting the Ministry’s official website using the scratch card provided during registration. This online system facilitates easy access to results for both students and parents.
The statement also noted that the 2,499 students who did not pass will be required to repeat Primary Six when the new school year begins in September 2024. This policy aims to ensure that all students meet the required educational standards before advancing to the next level.
Dr. Ashibogwu reaffirmed the Delta State Government’s commitment to enhancing educational quality and providing the necessary support for student success. They encouraged those who did not pass to view this as an opportunity to improve and strengthen their academic skills.
The release of these results marks a significant moment in the educational journey of Delta State’s young learners, highlighting the government’s ongoing efforts to uphold high standards in education and support student achievement.
