THE ongoing flyover project at Enerhen Junction has brought traffic to a grinding halt, leaving commuters and pedestrians stranded.
Following the barricade of Warri/ Sapele Road by Igbudu Primary occasioned by the ongoing flyover project in Enerhen Junction, residents, and road users have called for the urgent rehabilitation of Etuwewe Road (off Deco Road) and other alternate roads to Uvwie and Udu local government areas.
Business owners, who reside in Udu and Uvwie but operate in Warri, have expressed frustration, citing significant disruptions to their daily movements.
In a recent interview, Ovwian resident and Warri business owner, Mrs. Janet Akpowene commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for the flyover project in Enerhen Junction. However, she expressed disappointment that alternate roads like Etuwewe were not rehabilitated before the barricade of Warri/Sapele Road by Igbudu Primary School.
Mrs. Akpowene highlighted the poor condition of these alternate routes, emphasizing the need for improved infrastructure to support the community.
Another respondent, Michael Adaighofua, a Udu Local Government resident who does business in Warri, expressed frustration at being forced to take a ferry through Igbudu Community Waterside to reach his destination in Ovwian Local Government Area.
He noted that others have opted for a lengthy detour via Okumagba Estate, Airport Road, and Okorodudu Junction in Enerhen, while some have taken to trekking long distances from Igbudu Primary School to Enerhen Road.
“Meanwhile, commercial tricycle riders have capitalized on the situation, setting up makeshift terminals at Igbudu Primary School and Enerhen Road,” he added.
