THE Councilor representing Atuma- Iga Hon. Chris Nwamgbor has emerged the leader of the Legislative arm of Oshimili North Local Government Area, after formal inauguration of the members of the Legislative arm by the local government chairman, Hon. Chief Innocent Esewezie. Prior to the election of Hon. Nwamgbor as leader of the House, which was conducted in a peaceful and friendly atmosphere, the local government chairman had made official proclamation and inaugurated the members of the Legislative arm.
Following the official proclamation by the Council Chairman and Inauguration of the the Legislators, they took their oath of office at the Legislative Complex whereby they promised to carry out their duties in the interest of the people of Oshimili North.
While addressing the press, Hon Chief Innocent Esewezie said he will be working with the Councillors in order to effectively work for the people.
In his words: “The reason our people are excited today should not be the reason they get angry tomorrow, meaning that the people supported us and the Legislators must be ready to give more of everything. More in area of youth empowerment, more in area of security, and much more of what we gave them in my first term”.
He further noted that governance is a continuum hence his decision to commence the immediate remodeling of the Legislative Complex so that the people’s representatives will have a comfortable place for legislation. He proclaimed the seventh House open before the commencement of nomination began.
Hon. Barry Okonkwo nominated his colleague Hon Chris Nwamgbor and he was seconded by Hon. Cyril of Akwukwu-igbo. Similarly, Hillary Okobi nominated Hon. Mrs Odogwu Augustina and he was seconded by Hon. Patrick Nwankwo. They were sworn-in by the clerk of the House before the Leader read out other nominations as outlined by the Party.
Present at the well-attended event include the Member representing Oshimili North Local Government Area in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Barr. Frank Esenwah, the Vice chairman of the local government, Hon. Amb. Uju Okolo and Deacon David Nwosisi, the PDP Oshimili North Youth Leader. Others are Hon. Stephen Okocha, Hon. Adim Henry Ofuase, the immediate past House leader, Mrs Stella Ofunne Jones, the HPM, amongst others.
