Ugbaja Urge DTSG To Establish Cattle-Ranch In Aniocha North

ISSELE-UKU

 BY CHIJIOKE OYE

THE Secretary to the Aniocha North Joint Taskforce and former Chairman of the Issele-Uku Vigilante group, Mr Isaac Ugbaja has urged the Delta State Government to establish a cattle ranch in the area.

Ugbaja, while speaking with The Pointer in Issele-Uku said that the establishment of a cattle ranch would go a long way in solving the incessant attacks of Fulani headers on local farmers who, out of fear and panic, have fled from their farms.

He said that the locals were not asking the Fulani men out of their town but to stop destroying their farms with their cattle, stressing that ‘’one cannot spoil another’s business to protect his own’’.

He pointed out that the Joint Taskforce has recorded milestone achievements, and has reduced the occurrence of petty stealing, burglaries, and picking pockets in the metropolis, adding that their major challenge is the regular attack of Fulani herdsmen on local farmers.

Ugbaja appealed to the State Government to reconsider paying Vigilante official stipend, stressing that in the last four months, they have not received anything, despite risking their lives in checkmating crime in the area.

He said that payment of the Vigilante group would not only motivate them but would spur them into action in protecting the lives and properties of the people, adding that they would put in their best if the government resumed the payment of stipends.
