DELTA State Orientation and Communications Bureau, has faulted alleged insecurity challenges raised by a young lady in a trending video on social media, wherein she claimed that rampant kidnapping and raping of victims had increased in Warri Township, Osubi, Otokutu, Agbarho and Otuama communities, adding that “Delta State is one of the safest state in Nigeria, as clearly indicated several security reports released by various agencies and nongovernmental organizations,”
The Bureau in a statement by the Chief Executive Officer, Dr. (Barr) Fred Oghenesivbe, reiterated that Delta State remained one of the safest states in Nigeria, due to the collaborative efforts of security agencies in combating crime, coupled with the good governance strides of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, since May 29, 2023 and counting.
He said insecurity has been, and still a national issue within the last two decades or more, judging from the lingering criminal activities of some herdsmen, bandits and other criminal elementals, adding that it is the joint responsibility of all citizens and government to combat the menace through volunteered information, arrest and prosecution.
Oghenesivbe, who is also the Executive Assistant on Communications to Governor Oborevwori, said the trending allegation of acute insecurity contained in the trending video failed objectivity test in all ramifications, and therefore, amounts to deliberate media propaganda, and an attempt to undermine the positive efforts of security agents who are daily working round the clock to secure the state, protect life and property.
He appealed to Deltans and members of the general public to disregard the fabricated insecurity allegation in those communities, while urging the young lady to desist from portraying herself as a cheap tool in the hands of political mischief makers, pointing out that the video may have been sponsored by political detractors of Governor Oborevwori, who are envious of his landmark achievements within the last one year and two months in office.
He assured that Governor Oborevwori will continue to provide logistics and other necessary support to enhance effective policing, protection of life and property in line with his enhanced peace and security mantra encapsulated in the MORE Agenda of this administration.
“The Commissioner of Police in Delta, CP OlufemiAbaniwonda and his men, the DSS, as well as heads of other security agencies deserve commendation from all well-meaning Deltans for their positive and result oriented operational strategies in combating crime in the state.
Governor Oborevwori will not leave any stone unturned in his strong determination to enhance peace and security as contained in his MORE agenda under full scale implementation.
“The governor will continue to provide logistics and other essential support to security agencies to enable them sustain and enhance effective policing, arrest and prosecute criminal elements across the state.
