THE euphoria that greeted the rumour of the purported release of ex- federal lawmaker and former member of Delta State Executive Council, Hon. Joan Onyemaechi following her abduction by unknown gunmen has been denied by the police authority.
Recall that Hon. Onyemaechi, who was whisked away by yet-to-be identified gunmen, has been in the kidnappers den for ten days running without any information from her abductors.
Prior to the rumour of her purported release in the early morning of yesterday, there had been a similar rumour of her death that was on the media space last weekend, suggesting she had died in the hands of her kidnappers which was also declared as false by the State Police Command.
In dispelling the latest rumour of her purported release, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Supol Bright Edafe, told our correspondent that there was no truth in the rumour, as the command did not receive any information of her purported release.
