Disturbing News Emerges Over Onyemaechi’s Abduction

BY JUMAI NWACHUKWU

A new twist has emerged in the kidnapping of former Delta lawmaker and immediate past Commissioner for Technical Education, Hon. Joan Onyemaechi, as fraudulent individuals exploit the situation to swindle well-meaning Nigerians.

Popular human rights activist, Harrison Gwamnishu, disclosed this on his Facebook page while also debunking rumours that Hon Onyemaechi, who was kidnapped on July 30 2024, has regained her freedom.

According to Mr Gwamnishu, ‘’I want to appreciate all those who have continued to pray for our mummy, Hon Joan Onyemaechi who was kidnapped in Asaba. I know you are hearing some rumours (of her release) but our mummy is still not out.

‘’However, we are praying to God that she is released as soon as possible; people are praying, communities are praying, and families are burning their candles to ensure that she returns safely to her family. She (Onyemaechi) is a good woman and I believe God in heaven will see her through and return her safety.

‘’The family reached out to me to say ‘thank-you’ to all those who dedicated their time praying for our mummy. God bless you all. However, they reached out to me to complain that some persons are soliciting funds, asking for donations from friends.

‘’Anybody asking you to send money for her (Onyemaechi) release, please do not send any money. The only thing we are asking for people is their prayers. Please, pray without ceasing.

‘’Pray until something happens. There is nothing that prayer cannot do. Just pray that our mummy is released safe and sound. If there is any news, the family will update us’’ Gwamnishu said.

Commenting on the video, a media aide to Hon. Onyemaechi, Mr Ngozi Onwordi, said, ‘’God will perfect our testimonies. For now, we will continue in prayers’’. Earlier, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Delta, Bright Edafe, had dispelled rumours of Hon Onyemaechi’s alleged release (at the time of filing this report).
