Oshimili South PDP Elects Ifesiokwu, Others

…As Okonji Urges Support

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oshimili South Local Government Area, Delta State yesterday held its congress to elect new executives, just as the immediate past Chairman of the party in the area, Dada Okonji called for support for the newly elected executives.  The congress was supervised by security agents, PDP officials, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) represented by Mr Michael Omorgbe and Mrs. Justina Orawo.

Speaking at the end of the PDP Local Government Congress held in Asaba, yesterday, where Mr. Chike Ifesiokwu emerged as Chairman and Mr. Chinedu Obodo as Vice Chairman, alongside 16 other executives, Okonji, who described his tenure as a success, expressed confidence in the capacity of the newly elected officials to do better.

“During my tenure, we did well. We produced two PDP Governors, members of the House of Assembly from the party, and 20 councillors from the PDP in the recent election.  “We hope and are assured that the incumbent executives do more to push the party in the local government and the state in general forward,” he said.

Okonji further congratulated the newly elected chairman and his team emphasizing the need for robust financial backing to ensure the new executives build on the party’s achievements and drive growth in the local government.

In his words: “To ensure the continued success of the party in the local government, it is imperative that the chairman receives enhanced financial support, surpassing the level I received during my tenure.

“During my time, I incurred significant personal expenses to drive the party’s progress, but this may not be sustainable in the current tenure. The PDP chairman requires a strong support system, and with adequate resources, I am confident that the new executives will thrive. “The rapid urbanization of Oshimili South underscores the urgency of this support, as its absence would create a critical gap in the party’s ability to effectively serve the community.”

Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Peace Building and Conflict Resolution, Chief Edwin Uzor, lauded the peaceful atmosphere of the election, expressing confidence in the executives to justify the confidence placed on them. The congress was attended by party stalwarts, including the House of Assembly member, Hon Bridget Anyafulu, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Peace Building and Conflict Resolution, Chief Edwin, Uzor; the Chairman of Oshimili South Local Government, Chief Obi Ezenyili; the Chairman of Rural Development Agency (RDA), Engr Meka, among other stalwarts.
