THE Rector of Delta State Polytechnic Ogwashi-Uku, Professor Emmanuel Achuenu, has said that harassment of students in the institutions of higher learning was a national disaster.
He made the remarks in a chat with newsmen in his office at Ogwashi-Uku. While describing students as an important aspect of educational system, he said staff should see students as their own children and never to victimize them. The academic boss said he would continue to ensure a comfortable teaching and learning environment in the institution, adding the institution was out to produce graduates that would become employers of labour and not job seekers.
The Rector urged students to shun cultism and other social vices that are capable of truncating their academic pursuit, saying that they should imbibe the culture of hard work which according to him does not kill, but rather it makes one great. He said a well-trained child would become a blessing to his or her family and the nation at large.
