THE Rotary Club of Asaba, District 9141, has installed Rtn Chukwuyem Iwelu as its 41st President, marking a seamless transition in leadership.

The installation ceremony, attended by a distinguished gathering of guests, Rotarians, past presidents, awardees, and other dignitaries, celebrated the club’s achievements and future direction.

In his valedictory speech, the outgone President, Rtn Solomon Ehikwe, highlighted his tenure’s successes, including the provision of clean, safe drinking water to the Oko Odifulu community in Oshimili South Local Government Area, the donation of medical equipment, and environmental sustainability projects aligned with Rotary International’s vision.

His administration also supported eight economically disadvantaged students from Adaigbo Secondary School, Ogwashi-Uku in Aniocha South Local Government Area, and Azagba Mixed Secondary School, in Aniocha North Local Government Area through scholarships and conducted sensitization lectures on drug abuse and its effects on mental health.

“I feel fulfilled as past president, having positively impacted lives and brought smiles to many faces,” Ehikwe said. “It was a journey of legacy. Though the beneficiaries remain unknown to us, their impact is what truly matters. I do not doubt that Iwelu will overcome challenges and excel in his role.”

As the new president, Rtn Chukwuyem Iwelu took the reins with a fresh vision and leadership, he called for new members to join the club to enhance its activities and urged all members to collaborate in achieving new heights.

“To all awardees, we recognize your significant contributions to humanity and our community. I encourage well-meaning Nigerians to support our efforts to meet the needs of our people,” Iwelu stated.

Speaking to journalists, the Chairman of the Installation Committee, Rtn. Nnaemeka Okeke acknowledged the challenges of organizing the event amid economic difficulties but praised the club members and planning committee for their dedication. “I urge members to support our new president and believe that with divine wisdom, Iwelu will lead the club to greater heights,” Okeke affirmed.

The event concluded with the presentation of awards to past and present leaders and Rotarians for their selfless service and contributions to community development.
