Help Reduce Price Hike Of Food Items, Market Women Beg Tinubu

By Ifeanyi Omenogor

AN appeal has gone to President Bola Tinubu to look into the incessant price hike of foodstuff in the country to cushion the sufferings of the masses.

Traders and buyers at the Ogbeogonogo Modern Market in Asaba, Oshimili South Local Government Area, made the appeal during an interview.

Those who spoke included Mrs. Janet Okonkwo, Mrs. Maureen Osikogwu, Mrs. Margret Ekele and others. It was noted that in no distant time, many traders may be forced out of business because they may not get the financial muscle to continue trading because of high cost of food items.

One basket of brown beans that was  sold for N6,000, now sells for N9,000, while Nigeria/foreign rice sold for N5,000, is now N8,000and one tuber of yam that was sold for N1,000, is now N5,000. Osikogwu described the situation as unfortunate and called for the immediate attention of the Federal Government.
