The Chairman of Isoko North Local Government Area, Hon. Prince Godwin Ogorugba has promised to sanitize the workforce and fish out ghost workers in the primary school system and all other areas.
He said he will carry out a physical, biometric audit and a head count to fish out ghost workers and absentee teachers in the local government area.
Prince Ogorugba stated this when he received on a working visit, the Chairman, Delta State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Hon. Samuel Mariere and his delegation at his office in Ozoro.
He said “the education system is fast losing its cherished value”, assuring that he was poised to fix the primary school system in Isoko North in line with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda.
According to him “we will check absentee teachers, ghost workers through a head count and biometric system.
“In an effort to see an improved primary school system, we are going to fish out ghost workers, absentee teachers and we are going to employ biometrics”
“We will embark on school visits and carry out on-the-spot assessment of schools in the local government area as well as provide notebooks and other writing materials for pupils to assist their parents especially in these trying times.”
Earlier, Hon. Mariere said his delegation visited at the instance of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori with a view to ensuring that primary schools get its desired attention. He expressed disappointment following reports of extortion of pupils and warned that such despicable acts must stop forthwith.
The SUBEB boss also appealed to the Council Chairman to assist in upgrading security in primary schools.
“The governor urges that the school structure should be under the host community guard with the school base committee to act as managers. We are aware that most of the primary schools lack teachers, we will do a memo to the Governor for necessary action.”
