The Delta State Commissioner for Information, Dr Ifeanyi Osuoza has admonished members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) who served in the ministry for the last year not to allow desperation for greener pastures derail their future and lure them into illegal activities.
Speaking at the send-forth event organized by the Ministry of Information for Batch B, stream 2 corps members who completed their one-year compulsory national service, Dr. Osuoza enjoined the corps members to upgrade their digital skills and get engaged in meaningful and productive ventures that would ensure a bright and economically secure future for them.
The Commissioner, represented by the Functioning Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mrs Theresa Oliko, listed humility, hard work, tolerance, self-respect and honesty as marketable virtues that would propel them to achieve their dream future.
Osuoza, while reiterating the reality of the evolving workplace, noted that learning a set of skills and pursuing self-development activities would ensure that they are not left behind in the present digital age.
“Self-improvement is the key to the future. Upgrade your digital skills not to be left behind in this fast-paced digital world. Challenges must come; they should strengthen your resolve to overcome and conquer adverse circumstances.”
Responding on behalf of her fellow corps members, Miss Mmesoma Agu expressed gratitude to the ministry and the state government for providing a conducive atmosphere for a successful national service, just as she celebrated the accomplishment of the corps members and advised them to persevere through all challenges and strive for greater heights.
The highlights of the event were the brief parade by the corps members and the presentation of parting gifts to them by the Permanent Secretary, who represented the commissioner.
