Adopt Clean Environment For Healthy Living, Oyibode Urges Udu Residents

RESIDENTS of Udu Local Government Area have been urged to key into the MORE Agenda of the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori by cleaning their environment to improve their health status.

The Chairman of the Local Government, Hon.( Chief) Vincent Oyibode made the appeal while monitoring this month environmental sanitation exercise last Saturday.

Hon. Oyibode revealed that his government will give priority to issues concerning environment to improve healthy society, by evacuating refuge and waste from market places and open up drainages for easy flow of water.

Hon. Oyibode Said Environmental Taskforce and Mobile Courts would be put in place to arrest and prosecute offenders most especially those that channel their waste in drainages and roads.

The Local government boss also appealed to traders not to display their goods under high tension cables because it is always dangerous and deadly when the cables cut. He promised to construct perimeter fence so that nobody will trade across the designated areas.

Hon. Oyibode revealed that the people stood to benefit if they imbibe good sanitary habit since it help to control the outbreak of deadly diseases such as cholera, which is claiming lives in other part of Nigeria.

The exercise witnessed the arrest of 67 persons who were brought before Magistrate O. A. Dedekuma,  who discharge 21 persons and fined 46 others.

Notable persons present were Hon. Andrew Gbesi, Hon. Ovoke Obukata, Chief Omodio Enajite Mudiaga, Sanitarian Elizabeth Okochi, Comrade (Mrs) Ufuoma Ajuwa, Hon. Ogono Emmanuel, Mr. Ufuoma Akporugo, Mr.Greg Alibor, Environment Department staff, Security Personnel and host of others.
